Who has asked this question before?  With the media and society dictating what we should look like, it's easy to get distracted about what God thinks about this subject.

First of all,  God  said that you are fearfully and wonderfully made and that we are made in his image.

A few weeks ago, I heard a sermon on the parable of the men with talents, found in Matt 25:14.

The points were so perfect for many areas, but I found them particularly interesting when thinking about my body.  God wants you to use what you have with wisdom and without reservation.
  1. What I have belongs to God
  2. I've been given what I can handle
  3. I must invest what I've been given
  4. A day of accountability is coming
  5. What I do with what I have reveals my view of God

Your potential is God's gift to yo

HEY!

One Cause Church has a new location starting Sunday, August 29, 2010

5080 Virginia Parkway
McKinney, TX 75071

If we really believe the Word of God, then we don't have the right to feel sorry for ourselves.  That stings a bit, I'm sure, but man is it ever true!

As the church, we have an opportunity to change the dialog inside the American family home.   Now, do we really have the right to think this way?   ABSOLUTELY...The bible tells us that we are the salt of the earth.  That we are a blessed people and that we are people of influence.

We CAN change the culture in homes, churches and community and it starts with one person...
Look at history...Moses, Abraham, Daniel, Jesus, Paul,  Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King, Abe Lincoln...the list goes on!

To change culture, we have to change attitudes of anger and entitlement!   This will effect the society we live in.

So, Why is church good anyway?
  1. More likely to reject instant gratification
  2. More likely to prioritize family
  3. More careful with your job and your money
  4. More satisfied sexually in your marriage
  5. More prepared to handle difficult times
Stats say that 80% of people who don't go to church, would go if someone would ask them.
Now you know why church is good, so invite some to your church this Sunday!

The Tongue... 08/11/2010

The tongue is used for many reasons, but the primary purpose was for creation.  After all, God created the heavens and the earth by speaking it into being..."Let there be light, and there was light".   Many people say that they predicted something to happen, but what they do not realize is that their tongue caused it to happen.     Common phrases like...
  • I just tell it like it is
  • He/ She always does/ says...
  • It just who I am, I say what I feel
create the circumstances that surround them.   What you say really does matter because your tongue changes everything.  Let's face it, you will believe your words before anyone else.

So, how do you go about taming the tongue?   Well, what makes an animal wild?  The fact that it cannot be trained only once.  The tongue is not like your family dog "Rover", you have to tame it daily.  You have to choose your words daily.  Everything about your tongue doesn't like the taming process because the tongue is tied to your emotions and emotions cannot reason.

Saying what God says will tame your tongue.  Saying what God says leads to believing what God says and that leads to doing what God says, which leads to receiving what God says you should have and that leads to people to Jesus whether you ever know it or not!

How about that for being an effective witness?

Here's another thought...Everyone has doubt, which is the thought.   Speaking the thought is unbelief and unbelief is the opposite of faith.  You will not build your faith by others circumstances, but hearing the Word of God.

Romans 10:17
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

A final thought:

The first order of discipleship is to tame your tongue and true discipleship is NOT saying everything you think.  Silence can be Golden!

This just proves that we are actually in control of our destiny!

 VISION
PURPOSE
ACCOUNTABILITY
CREDITABILITY

The church is who will bring this to the city, the nations.  Start by changing your vocabulary to I CAN, I AM, I WILL !!!

Some times we want the privilege but we don't want the responsibility.  We want to be visionaries but not implementers.  We want credit for the great idea, but we want someone else to put it into action.

The city is looking for someone they can count on.   The American people are demanding creditability and accountability.  So, what can we do?

  1. Quit being complacent and full of self-pity
  2. Decide to become personally responsible to your loved ones daily
  3. Start living, I can, I am and I will
  4. Become a people of vision and purpose
  5. Have GUTS!
